Hi everyone! I’m Carla! Cooking has always been one of my favorite things to do. I spent most of my early years working at restaurants, bakeries, and the like and there has always been something gratifying about it.
In recent years my husband and I have become a lot more focused on healthy eating. I, not unlike most people, felt that many of my recipes would suffer or be lost in the transition. Learning what worked and what didn’t took some time, but in the end I found almost the opposite to be true. Many of these recipes call for fresh ingredients or sugar substitutes and I would stress the value of keeping them this way. I know you’re thinking ‘sugar-substitute’ bleh! but I wouldn’t put my name on any of these recipes if I didn’t have complete faith in the flavors. Try them out and let me change your mind because much like my friends over at IdealShape, I’m all about changing your perception of healthy. I found through experience what seems to work and what doesn’t and believe me, they haven’t all been winners. I still get grief from the soy pancake incident of ’06.
The good news is that many of them have been winners and I wanted to pass those recipes along to you along with the knowledge I’ve gained along the way. My idea of delicious food has been redefined as not only just the best tasting items, but anything that tastes great and is healthy for me. I mean, why just have good food when you can have your ideal food? My goal with ICCK is to help others see things the same way.
I find one of the best ways to keep my IdealShape is to load my daily meals into a website called Daily Burn. It’s free and they have almost everything you can think of loaded on their site as an option. I have taken the time to input most of my recipes. Just go to Daily Burn and do a search on ICCK and you will find them. The other thing I have done on my site is build daily menus. They usually run 1400-1700 calories and have a good balance of carbs, proteins and fats. If you click on the pdf report you can print it and then you have a meal plan for the day. My goal is to eventually have 30 days of meal plans on my site.
