Thanksgiving Day Meal Plan

Posted in : Uncategorized on by : admin

Well it’s finally here.  I’ve been promising this meal plan for two weeks.  Ever since I did the big Thanksgiving Day with my family on November 7th.  This is a splurge meal plan that actually has turkey and all the trimmings but it’s still reasonable enough that I’m happy to report I didn’t gain any weight that weekend after eating this.  The other great thing is that I had a little of everything, really enjoyed the meal, felt completely satisfied without becoming miserable like in holiday’s past.

I had a meal replacement shake in the morning and then didn’t eat anything else until dinner.  I knew we’d be eating earlier, so I was fine.  I didn’t have any appetizers either, as I wanted to save all my calories for the meal.  After logging all this into Daily Burn, I discovered I could of had some light appetizers and I still would have been under 2500 calories.  For dinner I had the Turkey BreastStuffingMashed Potatoes & Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Spinach SaladOatmeal Wheat RollsCranberry Sauce, and then had Pumpkin pie with a little whipped cream later that evening.  The key for me was that I had small portions of everything.  Like 6 oz of Turkey with a little bit of cranberry sauce.  A small spoonful of mashed potatoes with a couple tablespoons of gravy.  A half of a sweet potato with just a little butter and brown sugar.  I stopped at two rolls and didn’t have butter on them.  They tasted great without it.   Then one small slice (8 slices to the pie) of Pumpkin Pie.  I have to say it was my best Thanksgiving to date.  As I proved to myself that I can splurge, have a great time, eat a large variety and still meet my fitness goals.  All this food and only 2200 calories.  If I can do it, so can you.
